Today's feature is a little unusual.in that the book that's being spotlighted by Buy The Book Tours has two co- authors - Sherrill Bodine and Patricia Rosemoor. Two authors isn't the different bit...

I'm very pleased that today Sherrill has agreed to answer some questions for me and this coming Tuesday (20th August) it will be the turn of Patricia to tell us about herself.

Let's get to know Sherrill:

Take yourself back 20 years and tell us if you had any aspirations to become an author at that time. I always wanted to be a writer.  I received my first writing credit in the 7^th Grade.

 

What were you mainly doing as a daily occupation at that time? Writing, parenting, traveling whenever possible.

And today? How do you mainly spend an average day? Writing, when I’m not attending a charity event or traveling the world with my husband.

Now jump forward 20 years from today. What do you think you’d like to be doing then? Writing New York Times Bestselling Novels – traveling with those I love.  I have always believed that time is our most precious commodity and we must not waste a moment of it!  I do what I love.

What’s your preferred genre for reading material? Once a year I re-read Dorothy Dunnett’s historical Lymond series – otherwise, I read my friends and biographies about interesting, powerful women.

What genre/ sub-genre do you feel comfortable writing in? Mystery – Regencies ( I wrote 6 for Fawcett) – after writing a bit of paranormal in Written in the Stars, I’d like to do more.

What do you think will be the main reading materials within the next decade? Books, some form of portable tablets? I hope the future will be divided between paper and tablet.  I love curling up in front of the fireplace with a glass of champagne and a book without batteries.

In recent years there’s been a movement towards popular cult-type stories- sometimes driven by what’s been popular on TV and the cinema, like Vampire, shifter, time-shift sub-genres. What do you see as being the ideal focus to capture the imagination in 5 years time? Zombies – particularly if Brad Pitt is in the movie.

Can you give us an idea of what your writing schedules might be like during the remainder of 2013 and on to 2014? My agent is within days of submitting my memoir, In My Grandmother’s House, to interested editors.  This true story of my mother, who was born developmentally challenged – my grandparent’s decision at a time when children like my mother were hidden away or placed in institutions to instead rear her exactly like their other children – allow her to give birth to me even though the father was unknown – my taking care of my mother from the time I was 5 years old and my life long relationship with her is the book of my heart.  My hope is that I will be finishing the memoir for a wildly enthusiastic large New York Publisher in the next year.

Ice cream or chocolate cake?  May I please have a scoop of ice cream on my chocolate cake?

Home made lemonade or rum cocktails?  Home made lemonade because I only drink champagne – it is the only drink I like!  If it isn’t available I abstain. 

Cycling tour of France or a beach holiday in the Caribbean?  Both

A date with a politician (you can name if you choose this one), or a date with Gerard Butler? I’m obviously greedy!  I want to have dinner with Bill Clinton because he has a giant brain and a date with Gerard Butler because – well, you know!

Children or pets? I have 4 children and a 170 pound chocolate Newfoundland, Alice – how can I choose between them??????

I’m sure growing up in my grandmother’s house, taking care of my developmentally disabled mother, forged who I am, but I don’t believe any one thing defines me. My philosophy of life is that we are all in this together—and we need to embrace one another with as much grace, humor and compassion as we can muster. I see life as big, bigger, biggest, and I want to take everyone along with me on the journey. I not only attend black-tie affairs and work on charity board projects, but I am also just as likely to be taking a grandchild to lunch and a movie. I won my first writing award in the seventh grade in a statewide essay contest about a television broadcast of Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates. Instead of Silver Skates, they sent real skates, which I enjoyed immensely. I’m only sorry I don’t still have them so they could hang in my office.
While moving 22 times across the country and rearing our children, I sold stories to Fate Magazine, Home Life Magazine and True Confessions. In 1988, I sold my first novel and a week later received a two-book contract from Fawcett. Sixteen novels later, I’ve seen The Other Amanda win the Wisconsin Romance Writers of America Write Touch Readers’ Award and Talk of the Town chosen by Cosmopolitan magazine as its “Red Hot Read” for February 2009.

There was little Will had not seen in court, the battlefield, or the bedroom, yet watching Elizabeth walk to the warm, spring-fed pool at the edge of the woods behind his grandfather’s cottage filled him with wonder.
He slipped his arm around her waist and her head rested on his shoulder. Freed of her ribbons, her ebony hair blown by the evening winds flowed across his throat and chest, filling the air he breathed with the scent of lavender.
At the far side of the pool they came to the limestone rim, festooned with vines and heavy purple blossoms.
Laughing, she slipped off her kid boots, slowly uncoiled her celestial girdle and placed it carefully on the ground. Wearing only her loose gown with hanging sleeves, she walked into the shallows.
